The 1,188th Sunrise

Miss Anne told me she was writing again and as she is one of my penpals, I was so excited to learn about Novelo and I am going to enter this contest too! I appreciate this format for aspiring writers.

I am more into World War II romances like Holocaust stories and stories about romances set around Pearl Harbor (the movie!!!) and big band and things like that. But I really thought this story was clever. It's just clever and different. I like the artwork too. Ada is a strong girl to stay that committed! Great short story, Miss Anne, and it thew a punch to talk about that fire - that really happened too!

Great story! I give it all the stars and I'm entering too! Thanks for encouraging me, Miss Anne, on my writing! I want to know where you get your ideas!

I didn't think I'd like it, but wow.
I can't do a spoiler, but I liked it.
My cousin knows Anne and I got this story sent to me and I thought it was her kidslit stuff and no, of course not (I like kidslit and I teach kindergarten and like, I want to write maybe kidslit someday books). I love the Gilded Age and this is like after that time period. This is a really good story. If I could do a do over in life, I'd so do something to save my best friend from dying. He died in 2019 and it was awful. He was an early fentanyl overdose before it hit the news so badly. He battled for years but that's not what I meant. I meant to save him - I would, you know? This is a really good story of saving your man, no matter what. She saves many people and that's a spoiler but I mean, wow. Great story, anne! Good job! I liked it!  Are you gonna do kidslit? We need history stories for kids too. You could do that - this proves you can write a good story. It was very very good!

Hendricks captures the horror of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of March, 1911 - a real event in American history. However, she creates a pair of lovers. Ada is stuck in a time loop, repeating the horror of the day, trying to save her lover. She figures out a way to stop the time loop and save her friends and her lover. 
I liked it - I really liked the twists and the elements of connecting a real event to characters that fought back, starting the rights of the American working man.
