Hi,
the story is nice. I would have put a male character (brother, better son). That kind of "Special forces" confrontation looks odd done by a woman. And the cryptic clues do not make any contribution to the plot. For example, "Gnomes have teeth" may lead to a key hidden in a gnome with teeth, or the name of the gnome with teeth in her sketches may be a password. Something like that.
I like the flow of the story and the descriptions, short but catchy.
It's no easy job to describe a physical confrontation. I'm jealous.
 I'm sure this is a short story, a longer one would be totally logic.
