Synopsis
- I hold my head up high as high as the clouds in the sky. I spread my wings and begin to soar. Roaming the skies alone. The feeling to be free to flutter my wings with the wind. No worries or troubles for me. I see an old oak tree to rest my weary wings. A berry bush beneath me. The sweet, sweet berries I love to eat for energy is a treat. Pitter patter I hear the rain. Needing shelter from the storm. I fly to the weeping willow tree next door. Little winged friends are here too. Hiding from the rain. The morning mist is quite lovely. We swoop to the ground to get the early worms. Tilting our heads to listen. The ground all glistened from the morning dew. Some blue birds came too. Chirping sounds everywhere happiness is in the air. A pair of sparrows fly away, they will be back another day. Robins foraging the ground for leaves and moss to build their nest in the trees and shrubs. Woodpeckers removing the bark from the old oak tree looking for beetles' and grubs. The wrens are happy little birds singing beautiful songs. They hop from branch to branch to find insects resting or hanging from the leaves. These little birds are carefree. Pairs of Mourning doves are cooing softly. A vibrant red cardinal spots a puddle to drink and splash. A pair of crows swoop down scaring the birds away. Loud caws and clicks bring more crows to the gathering. These chatty crows caw so loud to let other birds know they are proud. Nighttime is near. It's time for all birds to disappear. The darkness approaches. Time to find shelter to roost or sleep in trees or bushes, keeping the birds out of sight. To provide them safety from predators in the night. The owls Hoo by the moon light. Perched high in the tree waiting to hunt in the night. The wise old owl has keen sight. The night hawks dive in for their prey. Scampering mice every which way. When nighttime finally comes to an end the chaos eventually fades away. Morning comes to make a new day .
