Synopsis

This story takes place in the desert, an abandoned mining town of the old west. The towns people abandoned the settlement because the mines were all mined out. A settlement long forgotten. Dilapidated buildings still remained in this old ghost town. I like to explore abandoned buildings in my spare time. I'm a psychic and I dabble in the supernatural, I also write news articles and stories about my adventures. I came upon a house. The house was dreary and gloomy. Tumble weeds filled the yard. As I walked the path to the house a chill came across my body as if something passed through me. I climbed the rotted ,squeaky stairs to enter the home. The door flew opened from the wind. As I walk through the door I see the walls were crumbling with age The floors were damaged The ceiling had water damage. Worn and filthy furniture lay on the floor. A photo of an old woman and man lay on the floor in a broken frame. I started felling uneasy as I looked at the photo. I felt a presence and heard eerie sounds coming from upstairs. I climb the stairs slowly to explore the 2nd floor. I hear foot steps in back of me coming closer and closer, I turn around no one is there a breeze ran through me as it did before, feeling of chills through my entire body. This entity could possibly be the people in the photo I had seen downstairs. The old couple probably died in this house and could not move on lingering forever in the past. I've learned through my practice people who have died do not realize it. These spirits remain trapped in places they are unable to move on. The entity will try to interact with the visitor. They do not know you cannot see them they think you are ignoring them, so they start to move objects, rocking a chair or slamming a door Just to let you know they are there. As I enter one of the bedrooms upstairs A faint smell of pipe tobacco in the air and whispers overlapping confusing me as I try to listen. I see an old dresser a draw that was practically ready to fall from the dresser and just hanging there on the edge. I look closer. A piece of newspaper in the corner of the dresser lying there as if I was meant to find it, I pick up the paper to find a story about the two people in the picture I found downstairs. The story read Edith and Emmet Tuft were murdered in bed in their home. An axe was the murderer's weapon. It was a grewsome murder. A very tragic ending for this elderly couple. The identity of the cold-blooded killer still remains unknown. As I was reading the news article the draw slammed shut. I nearly jumped out of my skin. I hear whisper's in the hallway. I begin to walk out of the bedroom a breeze ran through me as it did earlier. This time was different. I felt a presence. An apparition stood in the hallway of the elderly couple. I did not fear it, because I believe in manifestation. The smell of pipe tobacco and perfume was in the air. These were friendly apparition's they were smiling, and I felt a sense of comfort. They then pointed to a room across the hall. I opened the door, on the floor lay a note with the name Mason Tuft. The elderly couples Grandson who was mentally disturbed had committed this grisly murder. As I turned to see if the elderly couple was still in the hallway they seemed to have disappeared. I know now Emmet and Edith needed to tell me their story so they can move on. I needed to find out more about Mason Tuft to put these souls to rest. I then took out my cell phone and looked up Mason Tuft. He was put in a mental asylum at the age or 31. He was given a lobotomy that failed, and he died a day later. I took the news with me. I began my drive back home to write my story. The murder of Emmet and Edith Tuft was about to be disclosed in the newspaper and a book about my experience. Tragedy became an opportunity for me. My book became a best seller after it came out a year ago, and a production company contacted me to create a film version of my book. This book was dedicated to, Edith and Emmet Tuft. May you rest in peace now.
