The next morning, Christmas Day, I was awoken by my sweet child jumping up and down beside me excitedly exclaiming ‘Santa was here, MOM! You should see all the presents!’

Glad to hear her excitement and relieved to know that Santa had come and brought her joy was enough to heave myself out of bed at 5am and start to put coffee on, I told her to let mommy wake up before she started opening her gifts and she gladly, however impatiently obliged.

Once I had my coffee and comfy seat ready to sit in and watch the magic of the holiday unfolding I let her start unwrapping her gifts.

She received barbies, and tea sets and gifts that any young child would love. She was happy and I felt relieved!

She was opening her last gift when she noticed one more wrapped present under the tree. She said ‘Mommy, this one is addressed to you!’ As she happily brought me the gift that was left at my doorstep the night before. I was surprised, I didn’t think anyone would have gotten me something, but I gladly accepted her excitement and set it on my lap.
