He began running once he noticed, but-”“But that only made things worse, of course… You said you were standing here, sir?”“Yes, I was still here on the shore, unloading equipment from the truck, while he was looking for a good spot to cut the ice.”“I see…”Detective Aslan sighed while taking some more notes, struggling to hold his pen because of the gloves he was wearing to protect his hands from the cold, his mouth and nose buried in the woolen scarf wrapped around his neck.A man had fallen into the lake earlier that morning…Peter Aslan, a twenty six year-old detective and police consultant, had just spoken with the partner of the unfortunate man, an eyewitness to the tragedy that occurred. At the same time, members of the police department were gathered at the site of the accident, awaiting instructions for the recovery of the body. The scenery around them was covered in fluffy snow.The spot where the man had fallen into the freezing water was not close to the shore at all. However, this side of the lake was next to the road, a few shops and a few houses, which meant that the two men were visible to the town. Therefore, there had to be more eyewitnesses to the accident. Even from far away, someone had to have seen the man falling through the ice, maybe from their balcony or maybe from a store.Peter was brainstorming when somebody approached him and placed his arm on the young man’s shoulder. It was Harry Jacobs, a man in his fifties, captain of the police department and a good friend of Peter’s. Almost like an uncle.“What are you thinking, kid? You seem lost in your own thoughts again, we both know this only means one thing…”&nbsp;
