The frozen lake cracked beneath his feet. Heart pounding. Hard to breath. Thoughts racing. Seconds felt like minutes. Overcome with fear Tom didn't know what to do. Make a run to the other side. Go back the way he comes. He couldn't go back. The pack was close. He could hear them. Tom made a run for it. The sounds of the ice cracking propelling him forward. Moving faster. The adrenaline from fear griping him moved his legs faster and faster. He could see the tree long coming closer and closer. Tom had made it. He was across. He took a moment to catch his breath. Pulling in as much air as he could into his lungs. His breathing slowed. Heart calmer. Slowly he made his watly thru the woods. The leaves and branches crunching beneath his boots. Listening to see if he could hear the others. Standing still. He waited. Listened. He could hear movement to the right. Slowly creeping thru the pines he found the source of the noise. It was a woman. Intrigued. He watched her as she picked berries. Tom made sure to listen for anyone coming. Beautiful black hair. Eyes so blue they didn't seem real. Tom had never seen eyes that blue. Memorized. He couldn't look away. Tom could hear the pack coming. He was overcome with fear once again. He couldn't leave her. They would find her and kill her. What do I do? Panicking he did the first thing that came to mind. Running towards her as fast as he could. He grabbed her hand and continued running. Before she could respond or comprehend what was happening she was running too. Tom could see that she was out of breath. He slowed and with one swift move he threw her over his shoulder and picked up his pace. Scared. He could smell her fear. He didn't want her to be scared of him. What else could he have done? Thoughts racing. He wasn't paying attention to were he was going. Tom only knew he had to keep going It was starting to get dark. Tom couldn't hear the pack anymore so he slowed down and sat the woman on her feet gently. She stood there staring at him. Minutes. ticked by. Then she moved swiftly towards Tom and slapped him. Wasn't expecting that he thought. "Who are you?' she asked. " Why did u do that?Why?" She was firing off questions at rapid speed. " My name is Tom. I was running from my family. They are dangerous. Long story." Tom explained. "Lily. My name is Lily." She said. Tom felt himself shaking. His body rocking back and forth. A sweet voice telling him it was time to wake up. " Honey, time to wake up."Lily said. " Your father is in expecting you." Head fuzzy. Groggy. Tom opened his eyes to the most beautiful pair of blue eyes. " It was all a dream. Just a dream. Tom said aloud.
