King Richard seldom bothered with the affairs of other kingdoms, he had learned his lesson since the last time he had dared interfere with the affairs of another. No one was grateful and ever listened anyway so what was the point?

His time was far better spent in his own kingdom where everyone respected him despite him being rather young. He was happy in his kingdom and had no need to venture outside. They had everything and so after that heartbreaking betrayal he had promised to never interfere in the affairs of the other kingdoms. At Least that was his plan but life rarely goes your way and he was no exception to that rule.

So now here he was riding on horseback through the dark forest of Tibers on a mission to save the sweet princess of Saurus because he needed a queen to rule his kingdom in order to provide a female perspective to ensure that there was proper female representation.

That was his aim for taking up the quest set by the king and queen of Saurus. They promised on the successful retrieval of their daughter that the victor would be granted the princess's hand in marriage and it worked out well for him since every other lady he had proposed to in the past had already been promised to another kingdom.

While his coronation had been rather early, his search for a wife had been delayed because of his parent's desire to give him the freedom to choose his own wife. While he was grateful towards them for the freedom of choice, it had now put him at a disadvantaged position in regards to his royal duties because every king needs a queen to assist him and provide him with comfort.

Despite his desperation for a queen however he wouldn't force her to wed him. He was well aware of the fact that an unwilling queen would be as good as no queen. Ironically though, her rejection wasn't his biggest worry, as he was fairly confident in his charismatic nature. Even if on the off chance his charisma wouldn't work(which he thought impossible) his kingdom could speak for him as it was incredibly advanced and anyone would enjoy its protection.

The real problem you see was the dragon, the huge, scary, green dragon that no prince or knight had managed to defeat including the greatest knight in history, “Dravid”. Thus it wasn’t foolish to doubt his abilities, since after all it was a fact that the greatest knight had failed. The promise of the princess however was far too alluring for Richard to make defeat a possibility.

He had heard stories about her and there wasn't a better candidate for his wife than the fabled princess of Saurus, a thing of legendary beauty, unbounded kindness and goddess-like grace. She was said to be perfect and he and his people only deserved perfection. Thus with ironclad will he left his kingdom and after making sure his kingdom was in capable hands(aka his sister’s who had left royalty but had agreed to do him a favour), he left for the quest. All his preparation however was in vain as the quest was not going well.
