I'm sure that my story is the same as many others here...

I have always loved writing. I was that kid who preferred writing stories to playing outside with friends and even watching TV. I always imagined growing up to be a writer, but I was always told that it was an unrealistic ambition because it was "too competitive."

One of my proudest moments (as relates to writing, anyway) was way back in high school when I turned in a novella as an end-of-year project and my teacher told me "This isn't yours. It's too good for someone your age to write." Both flattering and insulting.

Sadly, at some point, I began to listen to those who told me not to pursue writing. I gave it up for many years.

Now I am trying to get back to it, but I am rusty. I no longer feel that I am a terribly good writer, but I am hoping to regain some of my ability as I start flexing my creative muscles again.
